A note from Maya:
Ever since I took interest in social entrepreneurship, from the time I took a Harvard EdX course called Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, I knew that I wanted to pursue that interest. My desire was and continues to be furthering my studies in the areas of economics, social entrepreneurship and innovation, to enable me to become an agent of change for the underserved and economically disadvantaged communities of Brazil. Now that I have been accepted to Duke University, I know that I will be entering an environment that will provide me with tools and opportunities to develop my work in social entrepreneurship in a profitable, sustainable, and scalable way. This will be a year of open doors for me, leading me to achieve my goals, and I could not be more grateful and excited to share my journey with you. I know that I cannot achieve my goals without the help and support of others, so I thank you all for your support so far and I will make sure to keep you all updated on my plans!
